Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service are recruiting on-call firefighters for all 16 of its on-call fire stations, including Ashfield and Hucknall. On-call firefighters combine fire-fighting duties with their primary hob and family commitments, responding to emergencies, day and night, when notified by a personal pager.
They are paid to respond to emergencies, to train and, when needed, carrying out other work within their community.
Announcing the recruitment drive, Nottinghamshire FRS said that the roles were open to anyone who lives or works within close proximity to one of their on-call fire stations, and that local fire stations would be happy to explain more about the role.
In addition to Ashfield and Hucknall, other Nottinghamshire fire stations taking part in the on-call firefighter recruitment are: Bingham, Blidworth, Collingham, East Leake, Eastwood, Harworth, Misterton, Newark, Retford, Southwell, Stapleford, Tuxford, Warsop and Worksop.
“Over the next six weeks we will be hosting events where you can come along to have a go and see what the role of an on-call firefighter is all about”, the FRS said. Two such events have already been announced: Retford, on 24 March; and Highfields on 25 March. Other events will be announced on Nottinghamshire FRS’ X (Twitter) and Facebook pages.
