A 20 year old man from Sutton in Ashfield appeared before Magistrates in Nottingham last week, charged with burglary and possession of a Class B drug. Keelan Lewis, aged 20, of Clare Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, was arrested on Wednesday 13 March after police officers found a stolen car.

A householder in Kirkby Road, Sutton in Ashfield discovered her car was missing after an overnight break-in. Car keys and electrical items had been stolen from her home. Police attended the premises at 5 am on Wednesday. After a search of the area, they located the stolen vehicle at 5.45 am.

A suspect was arrested and officers also found a quantity of cannabis during searches.

Detective Constable Natasha Crewe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers on patrol on Wednesday morning worked quickly and efficiently to trace the stolen car and arrest a suspect.

“Supporting victims of burglaries is a key priority for the force because we understand the impact this type of invasive crime can have on people.

“No one should have to wake up to discover their belongings have been ransacked and an intruder has been in their home.”

Keelan Lewis has been remanded in custody and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 11 April.
