The fifth film in the long-running Ghostbusters franchise hits cinema screens across the country this weekend, and the Arc cinema in Hucknall is going to town to mark the occasion with a special fan event on Friday (22 March).

Tickets for the fan event showing are more expensive than for a normal screening, with tickets costing £13.50 for children under 12, £14.00 for other under 18s and senior citizens, and £16.50 for the full adult price. But these tickets include an opportunity to have your photo taken with the Ghostbuster’s legendary ECTO-1 car, which will be revving up right outside the cinema, as well a VIP goody bag.

Usual ticket prices are £7.50, £8.00 and £10.50, depending on age category. Usual Arc ticket deals and offers are available.

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, and William Atherton from the original 1984 Ghostbuster film all reprise their roles for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, a sequel to the 2021Ghostbusters: Afterlife; while Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim star.

The official Sony Pictures blurb for the movie says that In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, “the Spengler family decide to leave Summerville, Oklahoma and go back to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – and help the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level! But when the discovery of an ancient artefact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.”

The Arc in Hucknall is located in the 1936 art deco designed Byron building. The original Byron theatre was a single screen cinema seating just under 2,000. The building was taken over by the Arc in 2019 and re-opened the following year as a modern four-screen fully accessible theatre. The original external art-deco appearance and Byron name is still visible on the building’s façade.
