Sherwood MP Mark Spencer made a Knight Bachelor in surprise Honours list

The MP for Sherwood, whose constituency includes four Hucknall electoral wards in the Ashfield district, has been made a Knight Bachelor. The Right Honourable Sir Mark Spencer MP, as he will now be known, is amongst six political honours in a brief unexpected honours list published by 10 Downing Street this evening (Thursday).

Spencer, who currently serves as Minister of State for Food, Farming and Fisheries in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), has previously served as Chief Whip and Leader of the House of Commons. His knighthood is for “public and parliamentary service.”

The list included six non-political honours, including husband and wife acting team:
