Judge sets court dates for Eastwood murder accused

Michael McDaid will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 4 June to enter a plea to a charge that he murdered his wife. McDaid, 60, from, Acre Lane in Aston-on-Trent, Derby, was charged on Sunday with murdering 53 year old mother of three, Rachel McDaid, whose body was found in her home in Nottingham Road, Eastwood, on Friday.

A preliminary hearing was held at the court today. Judge Nirmal Shant said that McDaid will appear in court again on 4 June; and set a preliminary trial date of 23 September.

McDaid, who spoke only to confirm his name at this morning’s hearing, was remanded in custody.
