A man has appeared in court charged with committing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a knife in a public place. Kaidum Dicks, aged 21, of Watnall Road in Hucknall appeared before Magistrates in Nottingham yesterday (Monday), just days after a man was stabbed outside a shop in Watnall Road.

Police responded to reports of a serious assault outside a shop in Watnall Road shortly after

5.00 pm on Friday. A victim, who has not been named by police, was taken to hospital with stab wounds. Police say that the injuries “are not believed to be life-altering or life-threatening”.

Police officers conducted a search of the area and arrested a suspect a short time later. Dicks will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 3 June.

“This was a violent incident involving a knife at a shopping area used by the local community”, Detective Sergeant Matt Dumbrell said. “I hope anyone who witnessed what happened, as well as the wider community, is reassured by a robust police response.”
