A 35 year old man from Kirkby in Ashfield appeared in court yesterday to face eight charges after a disturbance at a holiday park in Skegness. A woman in her 30s suffered injuries to her arms, legs and face in the incident, which happened in the early hours of bank holiday Monday.

Lincolnshire Police say that were called to the Waterside Leisure Park in Anchor Lane, Ingoldmells, just after 1.10 am on Monday 27 May after a woman reported being assaulted. Officers found a woman in need of assistance with injuries to her arms, legs and face. There was also a significant amount of damage to the caravan, the outside gate, and a mobile phone which had been smashed.

The man, who police believe is known to the woman, left the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.

Steven Hodgkinson, of Cherry Avenue in Kirkby in Ashfield, was located by officers a short time later “following a coordinated effort”, Lincolnshire Police said. He has now been charged with eight offences, including assault by beating, two counts of criminal damage, aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified, drink driving, driving without insurance, and failing to stop.

Magistrates in Lincoln yesterday (Tuesday) remanded Hodgkinson in custody until his next appearance before magistrates in the city on 22 July.
