Woman seriously injured after assault outside Hucknall High Street pub

A woman suffered a fractured skull and a minor bleed on the brain after she was punched outside a pub in Hucknall. The victim, who has not been named, was taken to hospital after being assaulted in Hucknall High Street at around 8.00 pm on Sunday (26 May).

Police say that she fell backwards and hit her head on the pavement after being punched. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them as they continue their investigation. A 34 year old woman was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. She has been released on conditional police bail while the investigation continues.

“This was a nasty assault that left a woman in hospital in a serious condition”, DC Michaela Williams said. “Nottinghamshire Police condemns all acts of violent behaviour and will never tolerate crimes of this nature taking place in our communities.

“This incident took place at a time when there will have been people in the close vicinity.”
