The Liberal Democrats have selected Cllr David Dobbie, a member of West Lindsey District Council in Lincolnshire, as their candidate for Sherwood Forest. Voters in Hucknall will help elect the new MP for West Lindsey in the general election on 4 July.

He joins five existing prospective candidates in the constituency: Sheila Greatrex-White for the Green Party; Helen O’Hare for Reform UK; Sir Mark Spencer for the Conservative Party; Lee Waters for Ashfield Independents; and Michelle Welsh for the Labour Party.

Dobbie has fought three other general election campaigns for the Liberal Democrats, coming 3rd in Brigg and Goole in 2019, 4th in Newark in 2015, and 3rd in Bassetlaw in 2010.

All the main parties have now selected their candidates for Sherwood Forest. Meanwhile voters in the Ashfield constituency are still waiting to hear who will fight the seat for the Conservative Party and Liberal Democrats.

Parliament was formally dissolved yesterday (Thursday) and nominations officially open on Tuesday. Prospective MPs have until next Friday evening to lodge their nomination papers and £500 deposit to become confirmed candidates.
