Eastwood house disturbance leads police to Brinsley robbery suspects

A teenage boy wanted by police on suspicion of robbery was arrested by officers called to deal with a separate incident. A second suspect was arrested hours later. The arrests follow an incident in Mansfield Road, Brinsley, between 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm on Monday 13 May. A teenage boy was attacked by a group of people, and left with injuries to their head, arms and legs. Their mobile phone was also stolen.

Just over three weeks later, around 3.50 am on Tuesday 4 June, officers were called to a a house in Eastwood following reports of an ongoing disturbance. Inside the house, officers found a 17 year old boy who was wanted in connection with the Brinsley robbery.

The 17 year old was arrested on suspicion of robbery. A second arrest, of a 16 year old boy, took place hours later.

“Robbery is an incredibly serious offence that has absolutely no place in our communities and can impact victims for years afterwards”, Detective Sergeant Georgina Gallagher said. “Bearing this in mind, we’re pleased to have made two arrests in connection with this incident so far but want to stress that our inquiries are still very much ongoing. . .

“We are continuing to investigate the robbery in Brinsley, so would ask anyone who has any information to contact the police straight away.”
