Ashfield Neighbour News and its publisher, Church Street Bureau Ltd, seek to comply with the Editors’ Code of Practice issued by IPSO, the Independent Press Standards Organisation.
At this time, Church Street Bureau (and Ashfield Neighbour News) are not directly regulated by IPSO. Ashfield Neighbour News is a new publication and Church Street Bureau is undertaking a process to join IPSO.
However, the editor of Ashfield Neighbour News, Gavin Drake, is personally committed to acting in accordance with the Editors’ Code of Practice through his membership of the Chartered Institute of Journalists.
Our complaints process is as follows:
- Complaints about accuracy or harassment should be sent by email to , stating which article is being complained about, and preferably providing a link to the article.
- The complaint should be from a person directly affected by the article. Anonymous complaints will not be acknowledged.
- Complainants should set out what is wrong with the article and provide information to substantiate the claim.
- All complaints will be acknowledged within 48 hours, and a substantive response will be provided in writing within seven days.
- If a complaint is upheld, articles will be amended, and a correction will be published. Articles amended in this way will contain a text box indicating that the article has been corrected.
- Complaints which state only that an article is wrong, without giving any details as to how it is wrong, will not be considered.
- If a person makes multiple complaints that are not upheld, Church Street Bureau may designate such a person as a vexatious complainant and will not consider further complaints from them. A person designated a vexatious complainant will be informed of the decision and will be given one opportunity to challenge this decision.
Once Church Street Bureau Ltd has joined IPSO, complainants will be able to refer their complaint to IPSO. Until the membership application process is completed, this option is not yet available.
